Websites & Resources

  • Public Records Online Directory | NETR Online – "The Public Records Online Directory is a Portal to official state web sites, and those Tax Assessors' and Recorders' offices that have developed web sites for the retrieval of available public records over the internet."  (Thanks to Thomas MacEntee and Kathy Hinckley for sharing!)
  • Cook County (IL) Recorder of Deeds - Document Search – "Our new website enables you to search and view documents on record with the Cook County Recorder of Deeds."  As of January 16, 2013, looks to have data from January 1, 1985 to the present.  There is a charge to retrieve actual documents.  Use the "Search Criteria" menu to search by various criteria, such as PIN, grantor/grantee, legal description, subdivision, or document number.
  • McHenry County (IL) Recorder – Search deed index online (looks to cover deeds from the time the county was formed until present).  Can also access records for a fee, but not sure how that works (didn't explore too much).
