Getting Back Into the Swing of Things...I Think

You may have noticed I've been a little quiet these days.  Not much blogging, I've missed several carnivals, and have not been participating in much genealogy discussion.  In fact, I haven't been doing much research for the past several weeks.

About a week ago, while reading another genea-blogger's post, it finally occurred to me what's been bugging me.  I think I've just been overwhelmed, which led to genea-burnout.  I have a lot of things up in the air, lots of leads, and lots of sources to explore.  So much swirl has lead to burnout and I just haven't been able to get back into it, until now.  I think identifying what my problem was has helped me to understand why I had "given up" for awhile.  That said, I'm slowly picking myself up and getting back into my research, one step at a time, trying to keep the overwhelming feelings to a minimum by simply focusing on a few things as opposed to way too many things at once.

Yesterday was the first day I had done any research, and in fact, I made some new discoveries.  I'm hoping that my blogging will pick up as well.  I have lots to share, both here and at my other blogs.  Stay tuned...

Come to think of it--I haven't done a lot of research lately either because I've been blogging. Got to get a balance here.

Glad you're back in the swing of things. Look forward to hearing about your new research discoveries.

Welcome back, Julie. Hopefully some of your motivation will rub off on me.

I understand. I feel like I've hit a blogging wall. My "real" job has kept me pretty exhausted lately. I do have a vacation coming up at the end of the month...Yay!

Baby steps Julie! I posted a couple weeks ago about being in a slump, genealogy overload, overwhelmed and out of gas! Too much data on my desk and in my brain and all the other things I'm (still) trying to do. Getting away a bit really helped me, and I'm still having a little trouble getting on track.. It's a relief to hear that I'm not the only one this happens to! Hang in there and just take some time to get back into the swing.

Cindy,

I believe it was your posts that I read that helped me come to my realization, so thank you!
