In researching further, I found that they could be replaced, direct from the Armed Forces - not by purchasing them - if enough information could be found/given. Having all of his discharge documents, and the documents given with the award, I set out to do this... be careful. This is where it gets a bit tricky. If you've not attempted this yet, rather than spilling another three paragraphs here in your comments, I'll talk to you about it further by email if you'd like. I also put info on this endeavor on my blog in previous posts. What a challenge it was but they'll be here soon, free of charge, when they arrive all the frustration will have been worth it!
